Over 1,000 Students Engage in Food Safety Workshop in Three Cambodian Provinces

PHNOM PENH, April 13, 2024 — Officials from the Consumer Protection, Competition, and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF) in Kampong Chhnang, Koh Kong, and Kratie provinces conducted a workshop titled "Food Safety, Consumer Protection, and Fair Competition." The workshop was held on May 7, 2024, and involved 1,476 students and teachers from Ji Phat High School in Ji Phat commune, Thma Bang District, Koh Kong; Aleng High School in Rolea B'ier District, Kampong Chhnang; and Prek Prosop High School in Kratie Province.

This initiative aimed to educate students about safe food choices and the health risks associated with unsafe food consumption, highlighting the importance of avoiding food that does not meet safety standards which could lead to various illnesses. The workshop also covered topics on consumer protection and the consequences of unfair competition practices.

Following the workshop, CCF officials distributed 1,476 educational posters about food safety to further deepen the students’ understanding and awareness.
